October weddings and sneak peeks

Autumn is one of our favourite times of year and we love an October wedding. There’s something so special about crunchy leaves, golden light and those crisp, cold days. This year for our October weddings we’ve captured the season’s beauty with our couples, at both engagement and wedding shoots. We even snuck in some product photography and a cute baby shoot too, as we offer baby photography exclusive to our wedding clients. Here’s a first look what we did in October…

First look: September weddings

A peek at the September weddings and shoots that have kept us busy, from a serene woodland wedding to a glamorous country retreat. Also, Lina escaped to Italy for some family time, and we captured a very special one year old’s birthday!

Why Weddings Matter – Lina’s wedding expert talk at WEDx

When we meet a wedding couple, we love to find out as much about them as we can. Everything from how they met, what their animals are called to how they take their [G N] tea and their favourite kind of food. Why? We just know these details make a difference when we’re photographing their wedding. Weddings matter so much to us, every one of them. This is what I wanted to take to my talk at the first WEDx event, a new series of seminars for the UK wedding industry. Hosted by Tracey Butterfield of Appleby Events, these seminars

A Busy Summer of Weddings

As we watch the leaves of our bright red plum tree trickle down to the floor from our office window (how poetic, I know!) we’re reflecting on a pretty our awesome summer weddings. Of course, when you do a job like ours, we’re generally describing the year as awesome, but this summer seems to have really swept us off our feet. After a fantastic spring which saw us return to some of our favourite venues such as South Farm and the Granary Estates, we also shot/saw two of our closest friends get married under the beautiful Scottish sunshine. This year

Santa Pod Engagement Shoot Lina and Tom Photo

A Drifting Santa Pod Engagement Shoot at the Raceway

We’ve had the pleasure of meeting Christine and Lee a number of times over the last few years at weddings we’ve shot, so we were thrilled when they chose us for their own wedding photography, knowing they were a pair of awesome humans. This was further proven when they asked us to do a Santa Pod engagement shoot they could use for their Save the Dates – yes we were going to shoot them at Santa Pod Raceway! Lee is a semi-professional Drifter – that’s the motorsport, not the American 50s Do Wop group, and Christine is very active behind

Cuban Wedding Inspiration

Colourful Cuba! One of the most fabulously unique wedding trends we’ve seen for a while, and we absolutely love it. So much so, that in collaboration with the other winners of the 2016 Four Counties Wedding Awards we captured it for this styled wedding shoot. This was our first foray into a styled wedding shoot for Cuban wedding inspiration and we really enjoyed it, and it in particular gave Lina a chance to go back to her directing skills! Cuban wedding inspiration is about rich, earthy tones with a nod to the alternative and free spirited couple. Capturing the spirit

There’s a new Doctor Who – but OUR Doctor yesterday was Marco! Doctor Who Wedding

Being the day the new Doctor Who is announced (woop for a lady!) we had to share this shot from the fantastic Doctor Who wedding we photographed yesterday as it is rather fitting! Our Dr Who superfan groom Marco protects his companion Verity from all that might challenge them in their lives ahead… Given Lina’s former career as a theatre director and producer, whenever we meet couple’s with particular interests or those who maybe love a bit of theatricality, we love to get creative. Of course we love our documentary wedding photography and capturing special moments, but we also love

Outdoor Pre Wedding Shoot in nature

An outdoor pre wedding shoot amongst nature in Hertfordshire is glorious, but so dependent on the weather. Thankfully Mother Nature was on our side again for Sarah and Anthony’s pre wedding shoot and boy did she come through. The sun shone beautifully through the trees as we walked with Sarah and Anthony to relax a few nerves, but then it was time for fun in the sunshine. We had to remind ourselves this was work! We’re so looking forward to Sarah and Anthony’s big day which we’re sure is going to be really relaxed and lots of fun if this

Moment-Driven Workshop with Candice Cusic – Lina’s Portrait Photography in London

There’s never a time to stop learning, and having felt hugely inspired by award-winning Chicago photojournalist Candice Cusic on meeting her at the European Fearless Conference in March 2016, I signed up for her workshop in association with the Nine Dots conference last November. My day started stressfully, with missing two buses to the studio thanks to my Oyster card ‘hiding’ from me in my bag, and I hurried into the room just as things were starting.  Thankfully seeing some photographer friends and Candice’s immediate warmth in her introduction settled me in! (Oh and coffee.) I wasn’t expecting such a
