Wedding in a Winter Wonderland: Choosing a Winter Wedding

For many people, the vision of an English wedding contains imagery of spring flowers and bunting, or bright marquees and supping champagne in the hazy summer sunshine, but I think there is a lot to be said for the fantastic warm glow and glamour of a winter wedding, and we love them. I have occasionally found myself fantasising over Pinterest about a sparking and silvery winter wonderland wedding with twinkly lights and guests in ball gowns… Anyway, enough of my theatrical mind, if you have no preference on time of year, it’s definitely worth considering a winter wedding. For starters,

In the saturated market of the wedding industry, with so many options of what type of wedding to go for, it is not surprising many couples are opting to have a destination wedding abroad. Many resorts in such hotspots such as Cyprus, Greece, Turkey and Las Vegas are set up to provide flawless wedding experiences against stunning landscapes and romantic backdrops. Couples are also recognising the magical memories that can be made by having an intimate family gathering abroad. Tell your best mates early enough and they could combine it with their annual holiday. Whatever you do decide on, one

Is a blow out honeymoon a treat or irresponsible? Lina on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire

Those lovely folk at BBC Radio Cambs asked me to participate in a discussion regarding honeymoons and the rise of the honeymoon gift list, as the new trend is for couples to splash out on holidays of a lifetime, despite having spent a large amount on the wedding itself. Those of you who read my blogs regularly will know that I am firmly in the ‘do what you want to do camp’ however many of the Andie Harper Mid-Morning Show listeners disagreed saying it was irresponsible. Irresponsible is a big word I don’t like – apparently couples should be saving

Breaking with tradition – the rise of the Bride speech and women speaking at weddings

This morning those lovely folk at BBC Radio Cambridgeshire asked me to participate in a discussion about the rise the bride speech at weddings. They’d noted that it was a rising trend on the Andie Harper show, a discussion-based programme which invites a high level of listener participation, and wanted to know whether their listeners thought it was a good new trend or that we should stick with tradition. I was invited to give my perspective on the trend, and wanted to extend the conversation here. The most important point to get across is that it is YOUR wedding so

Do people still value high quality wedding photography by professionals? Choosing your wedding photographer

I usually start my mornings in the office in the same way, with a large coffee and a catch up on social media. This morning Tom picked up on a blog post that had been posted on Find a Wedding Photographer and it has been on my mind all day. As well as commenting on the post, I felt I needed to get some thoughts out here, and would love to hear your thoughts in return on the way you are choosing a wedding photographer. The blog post is by a north west wedding photographer of some 20 years experience,

The weekend is for R&R… that’s ROCK & relaxation!

On Saturday we did something very rare in our book – we actually blocked out a Saturday in July not to shoot a wedding.  This is never a decision we make lightly as we love our work so much, but when I got the opportunity to sing at the O2, I couldn’t pass it up! For the last two years I’ve been a member of Cambridge Rock Choir led by the superb Carrie Rawlings. When I first heard about Rock Choir a few years ago from the ITV documentary, I’d been searching for a choir ever since I moved to

The end of an era! Tom’s dancing shoes are laid to rest

It is with great sadness that we announce the retirement of Tom’s famous (infamous) dancing shoes. The unique shiny black and white spats/winklepicker combo have served well, circling many a dance floor up and down the country, even travelling across the pond for our destination wedding photography in the USA. They will be somehow be replaced, but never forgotten, and will live on in the many phone pictures captured by guests in the last couple of years… The search is on for the replacement…

Have fun in your wedding dress REVISIT: Rachael & Nik’s mini-moon find

Last month I wrote a wedding blog on a subject hugely close to my heart, about letting go on your wedding day and not worrying about getting your dress dirty etc. I was inspired by the lovely Rachael, who was persuaded to dance in the rain in her gorgeous full skirted Maggie Sottero gown. A few days later we received the most wonderful follow up that I want to share with you – and here are Nik’s own words as I couldn’t put it any better for this wedding dress revisit… A special honeymoon momento Hi Lina and Tom,  We’re

Having fun in your wedding dress: why you have to let go on the day!

As people who attend weddings for a living, we have obviously seen a lot of weddings. Tom and I have seen all colour combinations, styles and themes. This means we are well placed to give our clients an idea of what will and won’t work, and I always say to our clients that I am always contactable to talk anything regarding their wedding, not just photography. From being unsure which side of your head your headpiece should go (on the right, if you’re wondering!) to where your DJ’s kit will be better placed in the room, I am always here
