Autumn is one of our favourite times of year and we love an October wedding. There’s something so special about crunchy leaves, golden light and those crisp, cold days. This year for our October weddings we’ve captured the season’s beauty with our couples, at both engagement and wedding shoots. We even snuck in some product photography and a cute baby shoot too, as we offer baby photography exclusive to our wedding clients. Here’s a first look what we did in October…
Christine and Lee – a fairy tale tipi wedding
Gosh, where do we start with Christine and Lee’s day – they had it all! The wedding reception was held in one of the best tipi wedding venues we’ve seen, St Paul’s Walden Bury near Hitchin. It was an absolute fairy tale wedding, so much so that the bride arrived at the church an actual Cinderella carriage. The quirky transport theme continued with this car-loving couple chauffeured to their tipi wedding reception in a vintage Chevrolet Bel Air wedding car. The reception featured a delicious Chinese banquet followed by ice cream delivered from a vintage taxicab. This dreamy wedding ended with the most fabulous party, the dancefloor was packed all night – we couldn’t drag ourselves away!
Christine and Lee also had an incredible motorsport pre wedding shoot at Santa Pod raceway, take a look, it was totally awesome!
Ellie and Ben – a sparkling day at Hatfield House
After shooting Ellie’s sister Alex’s wedding last Christmas we were delighted to be reunited with Ellie, Ben and their family for their wedding at Redbourn Church. We also caught up with ‘raving’ Reverend Will – he tears up the dancefloor, one of our favourites! Ellie’s family are really musical, so we knew we were in for a treat again. Ben’s also a Bandsman in the military, so this wedding had an extra special twist. We had so many goosebumps from the church choir, it was just beautiful. The reception was held at the stunning Hatfield House, which gave us some wonderful autumn colour topped off with a dose of sunshine. This October wedding closed with an incredible sparkler shot, 120 or so guests shimmering like stars with sticks in hand. What a fab way to end the day, along with Groovestation band getting the dancefloor bouncing!
Helena and Dean – two wedding dresses and a tea ceremony
We love photographing weddings with a connection, and we were honoured that Dean, Lina’s school friend, asked us to photograph his wedding to Helena. We travelled to Colville Hall in Essex for the first time with Storm Brian chasing our tail. Thankfully we were rewarded with a crisp Autumn day with only a few blustery moments that keep us on our toes (or firmly hanging on to a branch!)
Before the ceremony, Dean and Helena celebrated Helena’s Chinese heritage with a short tea ceremony performed in the barn. The bride wore a beautiful red traditional Chinese dress before changing into her white bridal gown. The red dress was worn again in the evening so were able to capture some glamorous night shots with the newlyweds.
Fran and Rich – music and mother nature showing off
A crisp Autumn day with beautiful sunshine took everyone by surprise at South Farm on Fran and Rich’s big day, and it was so mild they could have had an outdoor ceremony! Guests were able to enjoy barbershop quartet The Emerald Guard and wedding magic from Lee Smith basking in glorious sunshine, and just when we thought it all couldn’t be more beautiful, Mother Nature pulled out this sky…
Lauren and Alex – awash with autumn colour
We rounded off our October weddings with another perfect autumnal day, this time at Bassmead Manor Barns for Lauren and Alex’s wedding. The ceremony was in the atmospheric Rickety Barn – the warm glow is a photographer’s dream!
We took vibrant colourful autumn shots in the day, and as night fell we braved the cold for dramatic night portraits of the new Mr and Mrs.
Lucy and Alex – a picturesque village engagement shoot
We took a stroll around the pretty village of Barley for Lucy and Alex’s pre-wedding shoot. They are tying the knot at the spectacular Hedingham Castle next year, so wanted a different and more intimate feel for their engagement shoot. Barley gave us some incredible autumn colour; see why we love this season so much?
Baby photoshoot – fun with Finlay’s family
We had a fun few hours with little Finlay, who turned 8 months old, the second session of his one year baby plan. His mum and dad, Katherine and Adam, married at Childerley in 2015 (shot by us of course) and we loved returning to see them as a family. This picture captures the beautiful bond between the three of them perfectly.
Lights, camera, glitter! Styled shoot for Cambridge Glitter Bar
We had a sparkling day with the Cambridge Glitter Bar, a new pop-up service from established wedding make-up artists, Kerry Curl and Alison Grass. We had a really fun day creating a styled shoot at Granary Estates for their new venture. We’re still finding glitter everywhere…
A sweet smelling product photography shoot
While we mainly photograph weddings we also like to take on other corporate projects, and this month we shot product photography for a perfume brand. We turned our living room into a photography studio and got out our flash kit for 200 perfume bottles to take centre stage. Our brief was to create well-lit aspirational images of the bottles, so that the client’s retouchers could then cut them out for use on the site. Below is one of our favourite shapes. Need some product or promotional photography? Do get in touch!
October was a varied month for us, that’s what’s so fab about what we do! We were able to make the most of the autumn colour and expand our creativity with some product photography. In November we’re hoping to find the last of the autumn leaves before shooting some more wintry wedding scenes.
