Why an Orangery Wedding is an Amazing Choice
An Orangery is a beautiful glass structure that brings the outside in. If you dream of an outdoor wedding but are nervous of UK weather then an Orangery or Conservatory wedding could be the perfect solution for your wedding venue.
Our beautiful couple’s choice of the beautiful Barton Hall Orangery alongside the rich tones of Autumn felt next level. You get all the stunning colours of the season surrounding you while you’re nice and sheltered inside. Perfect for those of us in the UK who know the weather can be a tad unpredictable!
And the light during an orangery ceremony? Seriously good. It just floods the space and creates this really romantic, almost ethereal feel. If you’re getting married in Autumn/Winter, this is another fantastic option when you have a limited amount of light on your wedding day, but you don’t have to compromise if you want a light and bright feel to your wedding photography. As experienced wedding photographers, we’re all about natural light wherever possible, flash can be so intrusive during a ceremony.
Autumn Colours + Black Tie: A Vibe
This particular wedding nailed the autumn aesthetic while keeping things elegant yet fun:
- Décor that didn’t try to override mother nature. The beautiful gardens were giving those autumnal burnt oranges, So our couple kept a simple, black, white and green aesthetic with a hint of gold to tie it all together.
- The orangery itself was the backdrop. With the gardens outside turning all those beautiful autumn shades, it was like having a natural work of art surrounding them. The Orangery itself has beautiful clean lines, there is no need to overpower with huge décor.
- Then came the black tie. The groom and his brothers looked sharp in their tuxedos. The bride looked incredible in a dress that just fit the elegant romance of the venue.
That Ceremony Light? It Just Hits Different.
The ceremony was obviously the main event, and in that orangery, with the architecture of the space, with its high ceilings and delicate framework, just framed the couple perfectly. That natural light isn’t just great for photos; it creates this really serene and intimate atmosphere that just makes the vows feel even more meaningful. It’s a big reason why orangeries are such a popular choice for ceremonies.
Wait for It… Surprise Singing Waiters!
So, everyone’s enjoying the elegant black tie reception, having a nice time. And then out of nowhere, the waiter takes a tumble! The initial shock on everyone’s faces quickly turned into confusion as the waiter grabbed the mic to apologise and then came the voice…
The two waiters from The Singing Waiter Masters sang a mix of everything – some classics, some show tunes, and some proper singalong hits. It totally transformed the atmosphere from a formal dinner to a really fun, interactive party. It was such a cool way to break the monotony of dinner service and get everyone in a celebratory mood. Definitely a moment everyone will remember. You may be thinking, singing waiters, is that a bit cheesy? We can confirm that the quality here was phenomenal, with west end performers, and you can take Lina’s word for it, she used to work in a musical theatre agency!
Why an Orangery Wedding Venue Might Be Your Perfect Fit
This wedding really showed why orangeries are becoming such a popular choice for couples like us:
- The Light and Architecture: Whether it’s a sunny day or a bit overcast, the natural light in an orangery is just amazing for both the ceremony and the photos.
- You Can Make It Your Own: Whether you’re into rustic vibes or something more modern and sleek, an orangery can totally adapt to your style. It’s like a beautiful blank canvas.
- Indoor Comfort, Outdoor Views: You get to enjoy all the beauty of the outdoors without having to stress about the unpredictable UK weather. Win!
- Timeless Elegance: Orangeries just have this classic, sophisticated feel that doesn’t need a ton of extra decoration.
- Works All Year Round: While autumn is gorgeous, orangeries are equally stunning in spring with all the flowers, summer with the bright sunshine, or even winter with a cosy, festive feel.
