If there’s one night of the year we would absolutely rather be shooting a wedding than cuddled up on the sofa or at a festival with some glow sticks in hand, it’s New Years Eve. We absolutely love a New Years Eve wedding and Sharni and Ed’s big NYE bash did not disappoint!
Hair goals for a New Years Eve wedding
As we write the UK is in lockdown due to the Coronavirus pandemic and Tom is starting to sport hair you can almost tie back into a bun. Naturally, our handsome groom Edz is an inspiration for the who man bun and beard combo. But even he got some wedding day nerves on the morning of his New Years Eve wedding to Sharni, and had to make a quick dash to the salon for some assistance, and that’s where Tom found him to start his prep photography.
Lina headed to the girls at South Farm, our most local wedding venue and one one were we really enjoy shooting, never getting tired of it’s beauty and rustic farm charm. Being a recommended photographer at South Farm we have seen all sorts of wedding there, but this was our first at the wedding venue on NYE!
Bridal Ink
We’ve known Sharni for a number of years when she worked in events locally and booked us for corporate events and team headshots. She’s always been a cool chic, and we’d always loved her tattoos and alternative style. So we were delighted to see her choose a wedding dress that complimented her tattoos as we absolutely subscribe to the notion of being yourself on your wedding day – you do you!
Smiles all round
Wedding ceremonies can vary in terms of types of emotion, some are joyful, some tearful, some full of laughter and giggles. Sharni and Ed’s wedding ceremony was full of great big grins through out, and when they were announced as married Sharni gave a great big whoop. This absolutely set the tone for the rest of the day for sure.
All the confetti
We aren’t ashamed to admit we bloody love a confetti shot and will endeavour to make it happen whatever the weather. It may have been a little chilly but thankfully all of Sharni + Edz guests felt the same! We love gathering guests around the famous blue door of South Farm, as it allows the couple to disappear for a few precious moments together after the ceremony, before bursting through the doors to their guests and a shower of love and cheers.
Vintage winter glamour
The fab Dolly’s Vintage Hire helped Sharni create her vision of a vintage travel theme with hints of winter glamour for her New Years Eve wedding in the barn at South Farm. We absolutely loved the addition of black table cloths instead of standard white to really bring a cosy glamour to the room. Stunning florals from Lily Cora enhanced the travel props, highlighting memories from the couple’s vast travels. The piece de resistance though had to be their fabulous ‘The Carlins’ neon sign!
Flying high
Another fantastic addition to their decor had to be the paper plane place names by graphic designer Joel Clyne, they did indeed fly, and there was much merriment as guests threw their planes around the room with a child’s delight! It was a hilarious addition throughout dinner, South Farm’s incredible chinese banquet no less, which helped hype everyone up for the speeches.
Winter sparkle
Before hitting the dancefloor, everyone gathered outside for some sparkler fun. Sharni was a well prepared bride, having a bespoke leather jacket ready to keep the December chill away. Then it was time to head back in for the big party night of the year!
You + Me at Midnight
South Farm in house legend and DJ Gary got things started with a first dance to You Me at Six’s Take on the World, a fitting anthem for a New Years Eve wedding for sure. Then it was all go for the whole night; the dance-floor was busy as everyone got excited for the stroke of midnight.
With plenty of time before midnight we nipped out to the famous South Farm driveways to take some night portraits of our couple, and essential part of a South Farm winter wedding. Sharni + Edz got to cool down and take a breather before hitting the dancefloor again.
Boom
For us as a New Years Eve wedding photographer, there is just no point in going anywhere before midnight. Otherwise why bother working it? We’ll not charge extra fees for staying later either, as it just doesn’t make sense to us not to stay past the big bongs. And you know us, if the party is banging we’re unlikely to go home at all until you do.
5…4…3…2…1..
With an extra hour of party vibes after midnight Sharni, Edz and their guests kept the dancefloor jumping and big bunches of streamers became extra glam outfits. It strangely got everywhere, and the reminants certainly suggested a great night had by all…
