In a jam-packed November we photographed three fabulous autumnal weddings went to a wedding photography conference and picked up an award for our work too. Not bad, eh?
Over the last few years, October has steadily grown as a key player in the wedding calendar and extended the main wedding season. It’s a glorious time of year to get married or have a beautifully autumnal engagement or family photo shoot, as seen in our October first look post. Here is a more in depth look at our October wedding photography.
As we started to wind up 2017 we there were still more beautiful weddings and babies to be photographed – here’s a look at the last wedding and lifestyle photography of the year.
Much like October, weddings in November are all about golden leaves and light – just a joy to shoot. November has been growing in popularity for weddings, so it keeps us busy right into the winter as well as fitting in our annual jaunt to London for the Nine Dots Gathering week – a non-conference for wedding photographers. We’ll talk more about it when we do our in-depth look at the month, but here’s a first look at our November wedding photography…
As we watch the leaves of our bright red plum tree trickle down to the floor from our office window (how poetic, I know!) we’re reflecting on a pretty awesome summer. Of course, when you do a job like ours, we’re generally describing the year as awesome, but this summer seems to have really swept us off our feet. After a fantastic spring which saw us return to some of our favourite venues such as South Farm and the Granary Estates, we also shot/saw two of our closest friends get married under the beautiful Scottish sunshine. This year we introduced wedding slideshows, so we’ve mixed in some images and slideshows here.
We always want to be in top condition when we shoot your wedding, so would usually only allow ourselves to shoot two weddings in a row maximum. However, an influx of enquiries from super lovely people we just couldn’t say no too, means we end September and our busiest summer ever with a stretch of four! We had such a ball with these guys, here are tasters of these four fabulous couples this week.
A few years back, we all saw the emergence of the ‘T-Rex’ wedding photo. We’re not even sure we can tell you the originator, but we *think* it was an American photographer called J. Quinn Miller in 2013 with this shot. All good fun and it was great. Then we have all the other versions, you just need to search for it and you’ll get lots, some more successful that others. Last year a wedding photographer found himself with Jeff Goldblum as a guest, so he naturally recreated the T-Rex wedding photobomb, and this upstages the original a little.
As it has been done to death, we would not recreate the T-Rex photo for you. Just like we don’t do selective colouring or faffing about with filters, we want your wedding photography to be fun and vibrant, be your wedding photos not just a copy of someone else’s…however…when the lovely Laura and Matthew told us about their love for their adorable cat Sam, naturally we were all ears, being cat lovers ourselves. They were a little sad Sam wouldn’t be there with them to enjoy their wedding day at South Farm, so we decided to include Sam in some of their pre wedding shoot. And then the T-Rex photo came into the conversation. Wouldn’t it be a fun way to include Sam?
How could we have refused this idea?!
We started by taking some photos of Sam that would give us the right poses, so we would have a selection to choose from. This is where Dreamies came in handy! Reaching for those yummy cat snacks gave us a range of snarls and stretches we could potentially use on the wedding day. He also got a lovely cuddle from Laura and Matthew after his photo shoot, taking it all in his stride.
On the wedding day itself, Sam looked on as the girls prepared (so cute!), and enjoyed some cuddles with Laura, whilst Matthew remembered his kitty with some adorable cufflinks!
After a beautiful ceremony in Hertford, we all travelled to one of our favourite venues South Farm for their reception, and after getting the usual group shots out of the way, it was time for our wedding party to shine. A couple of takes to make sure we had perfect terror faces, and their work was done. And it was hilarious! Then our work had only just begun…
Tom worked his photoshop magic and here we are!
and we couldn’t resist going a little further with the next two…
This was so much fun to do, and we love that we were be able to bring a bit of Sam’s magic to their fantastic wedding day!
“These are amazing! Can’t thank you both enough! Love the Sam photos. The ones of him chasing us are awesome – really made us laugh!”

A sneak peak from yesterday’s wedding at the always stunning South Farm. After a fantastic service at the beautiful St Andrew’s Church in Hertford, and getting up close and personal with South Farm’s piglets, we left the lovely Laura and Matthew to party the night away, (and we are sure they did as they had the mp3s wedding band packing the dance floor!) but not before taking them off for a quiet moment on the famous driveway.
