Autumn is one of our favourite times of year and we love an October wedding. There’s something so special about crunchy leaves, golden light and those crisp, cold days. This October we’ve captured the season’s beauty with our couples, at both engagement and wedding shoots. We even snuck in product photography and a cute baby shoot too. Here’s a first look what we did in October…
A pre wedding shoot up on Therfield Heath in Hertfordshire is glorious, but so dependent on the weather. Thankfully Mother Nature was on our side for Sarah and Anthony’s pre wedding shoot and boy did she come through. The sun shone beautifully through the trees as we walked with Sarah and Anthony to relax a few nerves, but then it was time for fun in the sunshine. We had to remind ourselves this was work!
We had an amazing opportunity to provide San Francisco pre wedding photography for Pippa and Marty, thanks to perfect timing of our trip to the US last October! They live near the cosmopolitan city but are having a wedding celebration at Tewin Bury Farm this month. Starting the shoot at a fantastic spot showcasing the city skyline, before heading across the water to beautiful Sausalito, we then made our way back to visit an amazing view of the Golden Gate Bridge. Mother nature even provided us with the fog the city is so famous for!
If you have a favourite place or somewhere that is special to you, we’ll happily travel to give you amazing destination pre wedding photography. A pre wedding shoot can be so much more relaxed that the day itself, and allow us lots of time to experiment and have some fun. You could even have a post wedding shoot somewhere special to you – we headed back to Iceland after our wedding!
We highly recommend San Francisco as a place to visit, such a vibrant city that’s super to spend time in. We know the Californian road trip is a honeymoon favourite!
Laura and Lewis are one of those couples who we feel like we have know for years rather than just eighteen months, so when they suggested Brighton for their pre wedding shoot we knew we were in for a day of fun! Mother nature did her bit and despite it being the end of March it was a glorious day. Shock revelations though when we discovered that fireman Lewis had NEVER given his fiancée a fireman’s lift! So naturally it made for the perfect time. Throw in some whose-line-is-it-anyway-style doughnut drama and a dive bombing seagull to nick your ice cream and you have a hilarious afternoon…
Sarah and Nathan were one of many couples who now book us 18 months in advance, and whilst we normally give prospective clients a period of deliberation, we will always remember Sarah clearly stating she was ready to book by the end of our meeting! It was lovely to catch up with them again a few months ago, revisiting the beautiful Hatfield Forest* on what was the most gloriously sunny day. Many couples think bluebells when they want pretty colours and flowers, but many don’t think about buttercups, and the pictures below will show you the absolutely glorious sight of thousands of buttercups! We love how Sarah’s pink dress also stands out!
We revisit Gaynes Park with these two tomorrow, and we are so pleased for them that their big day is finally here!
*Photographers/couples note! Since we posted this shoot a representative of the National Trust has advised us that Hatfield Forest, despite no guidance on its website, is restricted for photography under National Trust rules like many of their paid entry properties. So if you want to shoot there you will need to contact them for a licence.
Great Gransden woods is a special place for Sophie & Mark. One summer evening Mark led Sophie for a walk around the woodland near where she grew up, and there on the bridge were lots of candles lighting the way, and behind her Mark on one knee! They decided this was the place for their pre wedding shoot, and we were only happy to visit when the bluebells were out.
Sophie and Mark have a lot of fun together which we think has come across beautifully in their bluebell woods pre wedding shoot, and we look forward to their wedding tomorrow!

Jess and Chris happen to live near a beautiful lake in Essex, Connaught Water, which they love to walk around so it was a perfect choice for their pre wedding shoot. Bringing along the gorgeous family dog Teddy, we had an early evening stroll around the lake. These two clearly have fun together and are very relaxed in each other’s company, despite being a bit nervous about being photographed. Having a cute dog around can be a great distraction (as well as ice cream!) We’re very much looking forward to celebrating with them tomorrow at their South Farm wedding, and hopefully recreate some of these gorgeous waterside moments at the reservoir!

Steph and Calin seem very comfortable with the outdoors. We decided on a woodland walk at sunset and they were visibly intrigued by the wildlife and trees around them, which we enjoyed capturing. The sun shone beautifully amongst the trees, and we finished with Tom, Steph and Calin making the leap over a ditch to finish in the glorious corn field* for a dreamy finish even the cows wanted to watch…
* An important point when shooting in fields, do not go ruining farmer’s crops! When we shoot in places like this we always stand our couples in tractor tracks so as not to disturb the crop – it’s important to be responsible and respectful of people’s land 🙂
Pre-wedding shoots in the Spring are meant for bluebells, they can’t help make you smile. We headed to Box Wood in Stevenage with Dominika and Dan for their pre wedding shoot on a glorious afternoon, days like these just don’t feel like work. Enjoy!

The title of this post will seem a little misleading at first. We met Gemma and Steve for a catch up over a drink before their woodland pre wedding shoot, at the gorgeous Willow Tree gastropub in the village of Bourn. The gardens of the pub have a lovely swing and a certain charm, so before we left for Hardwick Wood we took the opportunity to take a few shots in the garden and get warmed up!
Harwick wood had just started to flower with bluebells, and we took a wander with our lovely couple. For the most part, Gemma was safe in her lovely sandles, especially when her lovely fiancé would carry her over nettles and puddles, until one particularly muddy patch, and her foot went straight into the sludge! She took it in her stride though and we had a good giggle before taking in the stunning sunset.
Gemma first encountered us years ago when she worked at a wedding venue we had shot at. When they started planning their wedding two years ago, she came to see us and booked us in. We are really looking forward to their special day finally arriving tomorrow!
