This was a month of firsts for us. Our first trip to Zurich for a destination pre-wedding shoot, then to Santorini for a summery Greek destination wedding, before heading back home for an incredible day at the prestigious Aynhoe Park wedding venue. And plenty more in between, read on to see what we did during this jam-packed month of memories.
Henry and Izzie are super laid back, so we knew their Victoria Park pre wedding shoot in East London was literally going to be a walk in the park! We’d not been to this park before, but we found some lovely paths and some gorgeous blossom for these two to just hang out and chat to each other in. No stress, no awkward posing, just two people in love hanging out together (and with their very chilled photographers!) We expect their summer garden wedding to be much the same!
Many of you know we love a photographic challenge (remember our ‘Last Supper‘?!) and Emma and David are huge Bruce Springsteen fans who wanted to create a wedding invite which reflected this. One afternoon we got together to have a little fun in the studio with a plan to create a shot inspired by the album cover of Born to Run. Not wanting to pose them straight off, we brought a box of props and had a little fun, allowing them to get comfortable with the camera first. There is a great book of unseen photos from the original Born to Run photoshoot by Eric Meola, so we were inspired by this too – to show more of the shoot rather than just the finished image. After some silly games with the props, we encouraged Emma and David to pick up the instruments and mess around for a bit, before settling them in to the iconic pose between Springsteen and saxophonist Clarence Clemons – Emma clearly had the rock edge in those fab leather look trousers so naturally she was Bruce!
We loved that Nicola & Elliott wanted to go back to their old haunt of Camden where their relationship kicked off, and we couldn’t believe we hadn’t shot in that area before to be honest. Our experiences of Camden hark back to when we were teenage grunge/skater kids respectively, picking up Pearl Jam/Metallica bootlegs at the market, so we were looking forward to going back creatively!
We really enjoy doing London pre wedding shoots, as usually there is some sort of attachment for the couple and Alex and Andrew were no different. At the beginning of their relationship they spent a lot of dates around the South Bank, so it seemed a natural choice for their shoot. On the day there was a festival atmosphere around which was great to set the tone of this fun shoot. We couldn’t resist encouraging Alex and Andrew on to the carousel, especially when we heard Andrew had never been on one! This truly brought out Alex’s mega-watt smile as you will see below!
