A pre wedding shoot up on Therfield Heath in Hertfordshire is glorious, but so dependent on the weather. Thankfully Mother Nature was on our side for Sarah and Anthony’s pre wedding shoot and boy did she come through. The sun shone beautifully through the trees as we walked with Sarah and Anthony to relax a few nerves, but then it was time for fun in the sunshine. We had to remind ourselves this was work!
Throughout the summer our pre wedding shoots get later and later, in the hope of the sort of stunning evening light that Stef and Jack were blessed with when we headed to Stanborough Park. We had a lovely stroll around the lake and nature reserve, and love how much Jack makes Stef laugh. We’re looking forward to an equally chilled and sunny day with them at the beautiful South Farm.
We kicked off Kiff & Stacey’s pre wedding session with a visit to their venue, Lodge Hill Farm in Kings Walden, Hertfordshire. This is a beautiful farmhouse and gardens, with rolling countryside all around, and horses roaming around the paddocks. Nearby was a gorgeous bright yellow field of oilseed rape, which we particularly love for it’s burst of colour, so we decided to start shooting to make the most of it, before heading off to nearby Hitch Wood. The bluebells were on their way out, but a gorgeous low evening sun lit their evening woodland walk. Enjoy!
We adore bluebell season, and try to gently persuade at least one couple having their pre-wedding shoot in May to visit a good bluebell wood, and Kate and Scott were only too happy to oblige! Box Wood in Stevenage, on the edge of Great Ashby Park is one of the best we’ve come across, so we headed over with them one afternoon and were delighted to also meet their adorable son Harry! Kate was only just expecting when we met up with them, so it was great to meet the little man, and what a cutie he is! Here’s a taste of their gorgeous shoot…
Whilst many couples opt for their pre wedding shoot closer to their wedding day, it’s a really nice option to have a change of season to your wedding. This is what Mark and Sophie chose to do ahead of their June wedding, and so it became a celebration of their engagement last Autumn. Autumn is just glorious for a woodland walk and this lovely shoot is no exception!
This lovely little group have a special place in our hearts. Sarah is aka Sarah Henning, the fantastic hair and make up artist we highly recommend, and she was instrumental in creating Lina’s own look for our wedding day. We’re so pleased and honoured to be capturing Sarah and her lovely fiancé Matt tie the knot, and we had a great day with them on their pre wedding shoot. After a lovely lunch, we headed to Box Wood in Stevenage with their absolutely heart-wrenchingly gorgeous cockapoo puppy Winston who Lina is totally in love with and we’re sure you will be too when you see these photos. We make no apology for how many there are of him and the fact that the gallery starts with his cute fluffy little butt. Oh and of course, Sarah and Matt look great too…!
Roll on the wedding!

We’ve wanted to do a rapeseed pre wedding shoot for aaagggggeees, so when we realised that there was a field near the woodland we were taking Steph, Steve and their dogs to we were very happy! After a stroll through the woods and the doggies having a good run, we headed to the glorious gold of the rapeseed field, for some absolutely stunning portraits of this lovely pair!

We’ve said before that for nervous couples, if they have a dog to bring to the pre wedding shoot it can be a great way to take your mind off being photographed. When we met Steph and Steve, their gorgeous doggies couldn’t wait to run off into Potton Wood, so they ended up not featuring very much! Thankfully Steph and Steve soon eased into being photographed, which included this glorious moment amongst the rapeseed…

One of the things we love about shooting in Verulamium Park is all the birds, as they end up featuring quite heavily in the shoot. Definitely not the place if you are one of these people who are scared of them, but we love the fact that birds seem genuinely intrigued by what we are doing, and therefore end up staring in to the camera quite often, as was the case on the chilly morning we met Frances and Daniel. Chilly is never that bad for a shoot though, as it’s it’s an excuse to wear a nice coat and cuddle up!

One of our favourite types of pre wedding shoot has to be a woodland walk in evening light, and as big animal lovers (that’s we love animals a lot, as opposed to actual big ones, although they’re great too), we get very excited when we know dogs are coming along. As you’ll see from this gorgeous set, these two gorgeous little spaniels had a whale of a time, and we had a great time with Mandy and Sarah too! Tomorrow we shoot their wedding at the beautiful Hunton Park, another first for us, and we’re sure it’s going to be a day filled with love and laughter, as well as a super party!
