Let us get you in the festive spirit with a look back at Zoe and Kriss’ magical winter wedding at the gorgeous South Farm, Cambridgeshire. This intimate do was with close family, and very emotional too. Lovely Zoe had been very unwell the year before the wedding following the birth of their daughter, so it was extra special that everyone was gathered to celebrate. We may have been a tad watery-eyed ourselves throughout the day…
For their wedding, Zoe and Kriss chose a nature-inspired Christmas decorations – lush greenery, acorns for wedding toppers (super cute!) and personalised baubles. The giant chocolate coins as favours took us right back to opening our stockings on Christmas day too! A movie theme named the tables, as we loved the unique bauble table plan, with vintage cinema ticket-style place names.
Zoe wore a beautiful lace bodice dress with a tulle skirt, designed by Watters from The Tailor’s Cat in Cambridge, accompanied by a simple beaded hair accessory. A gorgeous, intricate gown that’s also lightweight enough for dancing! And just look at that exquisite lace… Kriss, and his groomsmen, looked dapper in a dark purple suit – a really nice choice instead of the usual navy and grey – and perfectly festive with a gold tie.
Their beautiful daughter stole the show a little in the morning, and Lina’s heart when she captured this (now award-winning!) shot of her gazing up at her beautiful mummy. Almost a year on we still melt a bit when we look at it!
Earlier in the day little Eliza was cuteness overload in her flower girl onesie, and absolutely knew how to work the camera! Zoe and her wedding squad all had matching onesies, the perfect alternative to a robe for a winter wedding, leaving Lina wishing she was working in hers!
The nature theme also carried on to the cake too – snowy white peaks of icing across each of the three tiers, with simple floral decoration that matched the bride’s stunning bouquet by the fab Clare Jones. Plus those acorn wedding toppers – so cute aren’t they?
Isn’t this door garland stunning? This is a fantastic addition to the Tudor Barn at South Farm.
Just before their sumptuous wedding breakfast, with plenty of laughs and tears, we headed out to capture some family then couple’s portraits – of course we had to have some with baby Eliza too! Very much the guest of honour on the day, bestowing her gorgeous smile upon everyone. Super cute!
If you’re planning a winter wedding do make sure you factor in the shorter days for photography – a slightly earlier ceremony will mean you have lots of time in the afternoon for couple’s portraits in the light. Then, after a bit of partying, you can head back outside for night shots too – we like to always get a bit more dramatic in winter!
For their night portraits we took advantage of South Farm’s most famous feature. Their dramatic tree-lined driveway is always lit up at night, so we make a beeline for this once the sun sets! Just look at those lights, spectacular.
Zoe and Kriss planned the perfect Christmas wedding, bringing in the softest of seasonal touches to make you feel all cosy and ready for Christmas. We wish our (not-so) newlyweds a fab first anniversary and a long and happy life together!
