Autumn is one of our favourite times of year and we love an October wedding. There’s something so special about crunchy leaves, golden light and those crisp, cold days. This October we’ve captured the season’s beauty with our couples, at both engagement and wedding shoots. We even snuck in product photography and a cute baby shoot too. Here’s a first look what we did in October…
As we watch the leaves of our bright red plum tree trickle down to the floor from our office window (how poetic, I know!) we’re reflecting on a pretty awesome summer. Of course, when you do a job like ours, we’re generally describing the year as awesome, but this summer seems to have really swept us off our feet. After a fantastic spring which saw us return to some of our favourite venues such as South Farm and the Granary Estates, we also shot/saw two of our closest friends get married under the beautiful Scottish sunshine. This year we introduced wedding slideshows, so we’ve mixed in some images and slideshows here.
A pre wedding shoot up on Therfield Heath in Hertfordshire is glorious, but so dependent on the weather. Thankfully Mother Nature was on our side for Sarah and Anthony’s pre wedding shoot and boy did she come through. The sun shone beautifully through the trees as we walked with Sarah and Anthony to relax a few nerves, but then it was time for fun in the sunshine. We had to remind ourselves this was work!
Throughout the summer our pre wedding shoots get later and later, in the hope of the sort of stunning evening light that Stef and Jack were blessed with when we headed to Stanborough Park. We had a lovely stroll around the lake and nature reserve, and love how much Jack makes Stef laugh. We’re looking forward to an equally chilled and sunny day with them at the beautiful South Farm.
We clicked with Laura and Lewis instantly when we met them, and after a fantastic Brighton pre wedding shoot with them we were so excited for their September wedding at the Tythe Barn at Tewin Bury Farm Hotel. Mother Nature played ball with a perfect sunny day to show off their gorgeously vibrant yellow and navy colour scheme, accented by beautiful sunflowers. Who doesn’t smile at a sunflower? Particularly lovely was fireman Lewis’ gift to Laura of seven heart-shaped padlocks to lock in each of the seven continents, starting on their South American honeymoon – swoon! This was a day full of fun and laughter, with an additional nod to travel during the day as this was how these two met. It was great to work with the brilliant Lovelight Entertainment again right through the night, until Laura and Lewis’ friends gathered around them to give them an arch send off. We have no doubt we’ll see plenty more of this super pair in the future! Credits for their fab suppliers at the end in Laura’s own words, enjoy!
We kicked off Kiff & Stacey’s pre wedding session with a visit to their venue, Lodge Hill Farm in Kings Walden, Hertfordshire. This is a beautiful farmhouse and gardens, with rolling countryside all around, and horses roaming around the paddocks. Nearby was a gorgeous bright yellow field of oilseed rape, which we particularly love for it’s burst of colour, so we decided to start shooting to make the most of it, before heading off to nearby Hitch Wood. The bluebells were on their way out, but a gorgeous low evening sun lit their evening woodland walk. Enjoy!
We adore bluebell season, and try to gently persuade at least one couple having their pre-wedding shoot in May to visit a good bluebell wood, and Kate and Scott were only too happy to oblige! Box Wood in Stevenage, on the edge of Great Ashby Park is one of the best we’ve come across, so we headed over with them one afternoon and were delighted to also meet their adorable son Harry! Kate was only just expecting when we met up with them, so it was great to meet the little man, and what a cutie he is! Here’s a taste of their gorgeous shoot…
Whilst many couples opt for their pre wedding shoot closer to their wedding day, it’s a really nice option to have a change of season to your wedding. This is what Mark and Sophie chose to do ahead of their June wedding, and so it became a celebration of their engagement last Autumn. Autumn is just glorious for a woodland walk and this lovely shoot is no exception!
We always want to be in top condition when we shoot your wedding, so would usually only allow ourselves to shoot two weddings in a row maximum. However, an influx of enquiries from super lovely people we just couldn’t say no too, means we end September and our busiest summer ever with a stretch of four! We had such a ball with these guys, here are tasters of these four fabulous couples this week.
We knew there would be a subtle Star Wars wedding theme with Emma & Sean, but in the end it was much stronger without their knowledge *insert force-was-with-them joke here* thanks to a surprise visit from some Star Wars VIPs! So much fun at Hitchin Priory!
